Default 55Necro vs 55Monk advice needed

I have a 55 Necro that I use to farm gold. I have enough to set up my monk as a 55 Monk, but is there any reason to if I have the necro? In your opinion, is there enough stuff that a 55 monk can do that a 55 necro can't that the investment in sup runes would pay off for the 55 monk, or should I invest my money in other areas?

In my oppinion no, 55hp monks can farm uw solo, but a necro can also do that, monk uses 6 skills to keep him up and running while a necro uses 5 and can do more damage, this counts for almost evrywhere there are alot of good solo necros so they know what a necro can do and what he can't do. I see more use in a necromancer then a monk a necromancer can become alot, minion master, ect, monk can only heal and protect :P just save your money mate, Do not waist it on something you will regret when you see the results.

55 monk is more versatile and, imo, better overall. However, the necro is cheaper to make and does more damage. If you already have a 55 necro, there's really no point making a 55 monk. You can do basic farming solo with the necro and you can get someone else to play the 55 monk for 2-man UW runs.

I still like the 55 monk because of divine favor. This means you can take on more enemies at a time ebcause you can just use SoJ then spam healing breeze and protective spirit to get almost instant healed from divine favor. There are some places a 55monk can solo farm where a 55 necro can't solely because divine favor saves the monk. Having said that, farming UW and FoW is probably the best done with a 55 necro using a build made by Godlike Satan. Use search function to find it.

yes, there is a build posted if you search for it.

I have a 55 necro that I made a couple weeks ago, i also have a monk and i was trying to decide which to make. I went with the necro to just try it out and i feel like it was a good choice. I really can do most any spots monks can and the damage spell for necros has a VASTLY shorter recharge than the monk. Also if i get tired of solo'ing i 2 man UW.
Also as far as divine favor goes yeah thats nice but my necro can cast insidious parasite which pretty much makes him invicible...I can 1v1 some enemies without prot spirit up if they have insidious on them

For soloing, the monk primary does have the advantage because of DF and skills like Blessed Sig and Blessed Aura. However, I don't know if it's really worth spending all the money just for that if you already have a 55 necro.

For UW, you'll be in a 2 man team anyway, so you can just get a 55 monk to help you with that.

If you really want to make a monk, go for it. Not worth the time and money though, imo.

Inecro/Imonk build (it works with either, and outside of UW is superior in kill speed to SoJ):

Protective Spirit
Healing Breeze
Spiteful Spirit
Insidious Parasite
Optional Slot (see below)
Mending
Essence Bond
Balthazar's Spirit

Inecro attribs (based on 200 attribs):

8 Healing Prayers
10 Protection Prayers
16 Curses
5 Blood (only to get the most energy out of the -50 focus)

Imonk attribs:

13 Healing Prayers (+4 mending)
~10 Protection Prayers
12 Curses
rest in Divine Favor

Optional slot depends on what you are soloing. I use Plague Touch if I have to get through Enchanted armors, Suffering if doing griffs.

This build is NOT for UW soloing, other options need to be applied for that. I don't solo UW anymore, haven't for a long time. Not worth the waste of time for ecto that is selling for 6k each.

Actually, depending on how practiced you are, a 55 monk with SoJ can take on many mobs just as fast and much easier outside of UW as you have bonettis to block interrupts whereas the necro must try to draw the interrupts out or hope to get lucky with guardian blocking. Also having the DF with monk allows you to take on much larger mobs at once. I currently have both characters and I find it less stressful and just as fast to solo UW/Griffons(rockshots)/Trolls etc. with monk and the only place I use my 55 necro anymore is FoW.

Question and about energy management?

well, i have tried the build and it works well at least for gryff but i have some problems with the energy management, some times i feel i will get shorty in energy thing that will never happen with the 55 monk and the signet. So how do you do?

If you're worries about interrupts, Mo/Me with Mantra of Resolve/Concentration > Mo/W with Bonetti's. With you Mo/Me you can also use Arcane Echo on SoJ if you want.

Ive got the same build as:Vexed Arcanist but only ive got insidous not but suffering instead, i think that works great as an hex with an aoe.

also i use guardian in free slot so im sure as a cover enchantment and a litle extra chance 2 cast ss or suffering, or something else.

Default I have both...

well...personally I prefer my 55 necro. I do have both and there are many uses for either. I prefer my necro because IMO, i can do more, faster with it. The monk however, is much more versatile. The necro must always be N/Mo, therefore limiting its skill possibilities. The monk, can have any secondary profession it wants, which greatly increases the versatility of the monk. For example, the 55 monk can be mesmer secondary to completely eliminate problems with interrupts using mantra of resolve, the necro cannot. The monk can also have the secondary warrior profession, giving access to stances and skills that, for instance, prevent knockdown . Both have advantages and I have both and use both for different things. If you have the money, I see no reason not to give your monk the 55 possibility.

just my 2 cents...hope it helps

I have both and i prefer the 55monk > 55necro anyday
Though if you dont have the money 55necro is also a good choice

Dont like 55 necros beacuse i love the DF boost every skill i cast i get maxium health.

don't like SS because of its 2 second casting time and the only spell to stop interrupts would be guardian with about 40% chance to block.

55monks have a lot more variety
Runner/ anti-interupt/ balanced stance (for things like tundra giants and other things)/ Spellbreaker(for 2 man uw) / Shield of judgement is very useful as it slows enemies attacking if their is too many around you

55monks can just tank better and thats their main purpose.
